Kansas City finds

A few weeks ago I visited a couple of cool spots in Kansas City.

ZUM
The first place I went is Indigo Wild where ZUM products are manufactured.

I met Mandy through Twitter one day and she kindly invited me to come tour the place. Zum products are like in every store in Kansas City from Whole Foods to local grocery stores to local craft stores. I knew that the product was made locally, but I didn't know they were near downtown, just blocks from where I live and work!

I invited my friend Dayle to come with me. The place is in an old ice factory. I think it had like three levels. It's super cute and super scented with their fragrance filling the air. Dayle and I could still smell it on ourselves when we left!

As soon as you walk in they have a storefornt where you can purchase their products.

We got a tour of where they make everything (by hand). Folks were cutting soap, pouring soy candles and putting labels on their laundry detergent (I got Frankincense & Myrrh). They even have a sticker room just for all of their labels! They have a kitchen with a long table where all employees gather for lunch at noon. And a super swanky meeting room with a bar!

It was a fun visit.

GOOD JU JU
I FINALLY went to Good JuJu, an antique store in Kansas City. It's a shame it took me SO LONG to get there because it's right down the street from my apartment.

They are open first Friday weekend of every month. There were some neat finds in there.

I saw these calendars with random found numbers. What a good idea!

And look at this baby sewing machine!

I purchased a little 3-tier cake stand. I'm going to spray paint it berry pink to match my other cupcake bath fizzie display items for craft shows.

You can see more photos from my visits on my Flickr.

I've been a fan of Indigo Wild for years. I used to purchase my stuff when Emily sold it at a Farmers Market years ago. Always nice for a hostess gift and great to give when you want something made in KC. I enjoy using their Frankincense & Myrrh laundry soap and then hanging some of your clothes up to air dry. Your clothes will act like a room air freshener!

I too, have not made it over to Good Ju Ju. I'll really have to try and make it over there. Another place we finally made it to was Urban Mining Homewares. They are only open the first of the month and worth a trip to check out.

Michele,

I've been using the ZUM Frankincense & Myrrh laundry soap too. SO FRAGRANT! I'm always smelling myself when I wash my clothes in it. I got one of their sachets too. I keep it in my gym bag.

I've been to Urban Mining a few times. I like Good Ju Ju and Urban Mining equally. I haven't been to the River Market Antiques in quite awhile though.
