Vogue Black

Vogue Italia launched Vogue Black as a supplemental web site to focus on fashion, beauty, and news in the aforementioned factions.

Through the successful experimentation of diversity in its 2008 and 2009 black issues, the magazine is hopeful that it can fill a void in the mainstream.

In July 2008 Vogue Italia published the first ever all black issue. This issue featured black models including Iman, Naomi Campbell, Liya Kebede, Sessilee Lopez and Jourdan Dunn - with the intention of sending a message to the fashion world about the importance of diversity in fashion. It was groundbreaking and sold out within days. It became a collector's item for fashionistas around the globe.

In July 2009 Barbie partnered with Vogue Italia to be the muse for the "So In Style" doll launch.

Here are some of my favorite images from "The Barbie Issue."

Love those hair-dos. Such spring wedding fun!

Those hats are fierce! I can see Mrs. Obama rocking this style to the private jet.

Drama! Only Barbie can get away with a skull holding up her skirt.

I love those hat boxes. The outfit on the left is so mine!

I want to be at this party! Barbies in all different shades and so beautiful.

Vogue Italia features black women more often than the Vogue here in America. Now there are hopes that the Vogue Black will put more black women in the fashion spotlight.

My friend Andrea, of the Fly blog, is one of the Vogue Black contributors! And guess what? Andrea will be coming clean on March 11th on "THE WASH, crafty girls come clean" with her story.

Be sure to check out Vogue Curvy too.

I dunno how to get a Black Vogue. I borrowed one from my co-worker to capture the images I put on the blog post.

I'm a designer in the licensing department at Hallmark Cards. And we used to have Barbie as a license. And that was my co-worker's client and she received the Barbie Black Vogue through them I think. I love it! I wanna steel it from her :O

Thanks for liking my blog.

You're in the indie biz class too?!? I am SO excited for it. I'm already excited by the three biz stories.
