House of Turquoise
One cool thing about working for Hallamark is that we get cool speakers to come and inspire us and sometimes we get to meet them.
This week at Hallmark was Color Week. There was a presentation on the 2011 color forecast and three artists came to speak about their craft.
Today's speaker was Erin Olson, author of the popular design blog House of Turquoise.

I loved hearing her story of how she got started blogging her passion for the color turquoise and beautiful interiors. Her dad was a techy and was always the 1st to buy scanners and digital cameras.
Erin built little websites in high school and had a blast with Painter. She always loved turquoise. It was fun to see photos of her wearing turquoise when she was a little girl.
Erin went to college for economics and ended up in sociology. She met a German boy at her 1st job and moved to Germany and started a web site about her adventures. Eventually she moved back to Minnesota, her home state, and fell into blogging full-time. What started as a hobby in 2003 became an obsession which turned into a full-time dream job.
I had the lovely opportunity to meet Erin.

I loved learning that Erin has 400 blogs in her Google Reader and she has 11 other blogs! Decor By Color is a network of 11 blogs that link consumers with places to purchase home decor and other products, sorted mostly by hue.
Sheesh... that makes my 190 blogs in my Google Reader and my five blogs look like preschool!!! Hmmm... maybe I should start another blog all about gray! You know I think gray is great!!!
I was so inspired that I ran home to get a turquoise Moroccan Mint cupcake bath fizzie to give to her.

She loved it!
I even had turquoise goodies today.

Yummy turquoise cupcakes made by Laura!
What an inspiring turquoise day! It is color of the year BTW...

Hee-hee... I had ONE turquoise top to wear in Erin's honor.
Too bad I didn't have my turquoise toenail polish on.
