Researching trends is my passion and I scour the Internet to find the best inspiration for all of your crafty, gift-giving, fashion, lifestyle and plain old "I just gotta have it" needs. I hope you enjoy your visit!

#2 nice assignment

Monday's Operation Nice assignment is: RecognizeGood.

You can go to RecognizeGood website to nominate someone and give a donation. Well, I'm just going to give an Internet RecognizeGood on my blog.

I made these fizzies special for Jeb, one of my co-workers. She is a mentor to underprivileged mothers in a project called Operation Breakthrough. Today she had a pamper day where she bought the five women an outfit with her own money!

So I donated a little bath fizzie pack for each woman and I got my hairdresser to go and consult them. That's the least I could do! I hope they enjoyed everything. I'll find out at work tomorrow.

I'm kinda liking how they look. The tart mold shapes may be a new addition to my cupcake bath fizzies!

I made some progress!

First of all.. how will it be June tomorrow already?

And now... drum roll please?!? Here are my new dirty laundry reversible aprons! YAY, YAY! (applause). These bad boys take about 5 hours to make!

(click to view larger :: more photos on my Flickr)

The two lovely aprons are samples for the BonBon fabulous fabric fest on Saturday June 6th (I have one more to make). You can stop by between 12p-5p and pick out your own fabric and I'll custom make a reversible apron for you!

Then you can stop by WearHaus at the Mint Ultra Lounge on June 18th to purchase the reversible aprons (+ the one I'm working on), some new craft aprons, AND some cupcake bath fizzies (hopefully the summer scents will come in soon). 5:30p-9:30p.

On June 21st I'll post the rest of my product on my oh so neglected Etsy shop.

Well let me get back to work!

#1 nice assignment

Last week I saw a banner for Operation Nice on midwest modern modern girl's site. I thought the site was super cute and what a good idea to remind people to be nice!

So this is the 1st week that I'm doing the assignment. It's usually posted on Monday, but with the holiday it was posted on Tuesday. So the assignment is: Treat Yourself.

Man this was hard! I can think of TONS of things for other people. But for myself?

Well the best thing I could come up with is purchasing the chic & simple SEWING book.

It'll ultimately become another project to put on my already full plate. But for right now I'm going to enjoy the beauty of the book and the idea of sewing something for MYSELF. The graphics are beautiful and the book is very well detailed. I dunno what to make for myself first!

What are you going to do for yourself?

May madness!

Ok… I got lots to report on my happenings this past week.

FABULOUS FABRIC FEST
I JUST found out on Friday that Dayle (sodapop) and I will be participating in BonBon’s 1st fabric event.

You MUST come out and look at all of the new and fab fabrics they have.
For the event Dayle will be there to take custom bag orders and I’ll be taking custom apron orders. You just pick out your fabric and we’ll make your items for ya. Or just come out to see the cute store!

So… I’ve been working on a new full apron pattern for the event (and to put on my Etsy shop). I worked on a mockup until 3a last night. And this afternoon I started on the real thing. Here is a sneak peak of the skirt of the apron. It has an inverted pleat!

I’m concerned about it being one-size-fits all. So I’m going to bring it to work on Tuesday for some of the girls to try on. I’d like for the neck strap to not tie (I personally don’t like the feeling of the tie around my neck). So I’m trying to make sure the length and the breast area fits most.

CUPCAKE BATH FIZZIES
Speaking of BonBon please stop by to get some dirty laundry cupcake bath fizzies. Here they are in the store:

I haven’t gotten around to fussing with mailing packaging that’ll make the fizzies expensive. So they aren’t on Etsy. For now they are only available at BonBon and when I’m at craft shows.

New scents coming this summer! I just ordered some fresh new summer scents like Morocaan mint and sun ripened raspberry. Be on the lookout for a GIVE-AWAY for a summer sampler of cupcake fizzies!

TWITTER
Last night I made my 100th tweet! It’s been so fun following and meeting new crafty folks. One of my discoveries is that weloveindie.com started to follow me and asked me to be on their site.
weloveindie.com
They have a HUGE listing of indie art, craft and design blogs and they have the posts and tweets in real time! Too cool! I never even heard of the site before and EVERYBODY is on there! So I’m glad to be on there too.

IN the MAKING
I did purchase some fabric at BonBon to make more of my new full apron pattern.

And I got some cool retro fabric on Etsy to use in my crafty aprons.

I also have SIX crafty aprons cut and ready to be made.

Hopefully I can get them on Etsy soon, but then I need product for the WearHaus event on June 18th. I dunno... I’m just going to keep on making as much stuff as I can!

That's all for now. Happy crafting! And happy Memorial day.

things accomplished

I got some things accomplished this week.

First on Saturday I got my Zumba level II certification. It was an all day workshop so I didn't get any crafts done that day.

Today I FINALLY got an apron done for a friend I bartered with.

I can't believe it took me so long, but it's done. I hope he likes it.

The apron coordinates with an apron I made for his new wife and an apron I made for his son for Christmas.

The two aprons currently hang in their dining room near the kitchen and it looks so cute. I hope I get a family apron portrait!
