I've been thinking of doing a blog post series of all of the vegetarian places my husband and I eat at here in Miami. There are actually a ton of places on South Beach. Lots of fresh juice too. What do you think?

Lindsay over at Small Home Design so kindly offered me a complementary tea towel with a recipe printed on it.

I thought it would be a perfect gift for my Mom to have one of Grandma's recipes printed. Grandma passed away June 26, 2009. And the funeral was the last time that I saw my parents. So giving her this gift was very special.

I had to ask my mom to mail me some of Grandma's recipes. 

In the bunch was a recipe in Grandma's handwriting with her signature. The recipe is the Scripture Cake.

Grandma went to church every Sunday. She was a decon's wife and sang in the women's choir. The Scripture Cake was meant as a way to teach young girls baking and Bible verses. You have to read the passages of the Bible in order to get the ingredients to make the cake.

My mom LOVED it! She wants to frame it and get Grandpa one too.

Here is the Scripture Cake recipe if you want to try your hand at making it.

Scripture Cake
Sift together:
• 3 1/2 cups I Kings 4:22
• 1 tlb I Corinthians 5:6
• 1/2 tsp Leviticus 2:13

Cream:
• 1 cup Psalms 55:21
• 3 cups Jeremiah 6:20
• Add 6 Isaiah 10:14

Add:
• 2 tlb I Samuel 13:15

Mix alternately with sifted ingredients.

Add:
• 1 Cup Genesis 24:7

Season to taste with:
• I Kings 10:10

Mix and follow advice in Proverbs 23:14

Add:
• 2 cups I Samuel 30:12
• 1 cup Numbers 17:8

Bake in a tube pan 300 degrees until done.

Read the scriptures and it will suggest the proper ingredients.

My parents are here!

I haven't seen them in about four years. So there are here for a week visiting Miami for the 1st time. So happy to see them.

Monday was Earth Day and I'm still enamoured by the beauty of our new home, Miami.

I really miss cherry blossom trees blooming in the spring. I didn't think that there were any trees similar her in Miami. But to my delight I've found several different blooms along with some tropical hibiscus.

I can't wait for the new pool at our apartment complex to open! I really need to take advantage of of the spectacular view of the Bay and the city.

My parents will be here Wednesday. I haven't seen them in four years! I can't wait to show them all of the sites.

I've been trying to maintain the weight that I lost from the Master Cleanse. So I wake up at 7am and take a walk with leg weights on. I never venture out to my apartment's courtyard. The Bay is literally steps outside my door with a stunning view.

Since I hadn't had any sweets for over two weeks, the box of brownie mix in my cupboard was calling my name. To make the brownies even MORE decadent I put either a Rolo or Reese's Peanut Butter Cup in the middle. My husband and I only had a few. I shared the rest with my co-workers. So I got a taste and gave the rest away.

I also tried to make my cheese pizza a little more healthy by adding on some broccoli and kale :)

I hate to admit this. But I hate washing my face at night. You'd think after wearing a full face of makeup everyday I'd be running to the bathroom sink to wash my face. I dunno. I get busy working, or too sleepy. If I wash my face right before I go to bed I'm wide awake! I gotta stay looking 28 (which is 10 years younger than my actual age).
